I hope that you all had a great Christmas with your loved ones, I certainly did.
As we say goodbye to 2014 and look forward to 2015 I wanted to take a minute and reflect back on the past year. To say I learned a lot is an understatement; it was also a year with a lot of changes and good memories.
One of this years best lessons for me was that I should not be afraid to do new things and meet new people as I talked about here. I really pushed myself and made a conscious effort to say yes even if I was nervous; I am glad that I did. If I hadn't pushed myself then I probably would not have started this blog and it is what I am most proud of in 2014.
One of the harder lessons I learned this year was coming to terms with the fact that not everybody is going to like me and being okay with that. I am the type of person that tries to solve any issues that someone may have with me as soon as possible and move on in a positive way, but it does not always end with a heartfelt apology, a friendship and invites to their wedding (you know who you are...I miss you.) I am not everyone's cup of tea and I am going to keep being me and if you do not like that, it is not a reflection on me.
I have never liked "New Years Resolutions" as there is too much pressure to try and not break them, but I think it is important to set goals for yourself at the beginning of the year. I have a few that I would like to accomplish or happen in 2015.
1. Write at least one blog post a week.. I was putting too much pressure on myself to post 4 or 5 days per week and I had no idea what to write about for that many days.
2.Travel somewhere this year that I have not been.
3. Run at least three races (I ran two in 2014 and think I can do more as long as I train properly)
4. Give back in a big way at least twice over the year. In 2015 I want to be more active in volunteering and helping others out. If anyone has suggestions of something I can do, let me know!
5. Stop snacking after 8 o' clock
6. And finally, really start budgeting my money better and put money away just in case.
I would like to thank my friends, family, strangers and those that inspire me for being so supportive of this blog..more to come in 2015!
I hope that everyone has a wonderful New Years Eve and that 2015 is filled with great memories and lots of laughs.
What are your goals for 2015 or some of your favorite memories of the year?
As it is nearing the end of the month, I thought I would share my favorite things from December!
#1: LUSH- Ro's Argan Body Conditioner
I love this stuff; I got this back in September for my birthday and had just ran out when my best friend bought me another for Christmas. Like I mentioned in my October Favorites, I love floral scents and this smells amazing! It is a body conditioner so after you apply it, you rinse it off and it leaves your skin so soft and smelling great. If you have not tried this yet, you should.
#2: Ardell- Edgy Lash 406
I am new to wearing fake lashes and I am not that familiar with higher end lashes that are good, so if you have any suggestions, let me know what you use! You can buy Ardell lashes at most drug stores and there are lots of variations to choose from. I personally like the Edgy Lash 406 because you do not need to add mascara to the lashes as they are a thicker lash. They are not very heavy on the eyelid and for me they last for about 5-7 times before I need to replace them. I really like the look of fake lashes and the difference between just using mascara is quite significant.
#3: NARS- Deep Throat Blush
I really love NARS makeup and I use it more than any other brand. Their blushes are really great and I prefer this particular color because it is peachy, where as orgasm is quite pink. This blush also has shimmer in it which I like. It is a good blush to wear year round and can easily be worn during the day and in the evening to go out in as well.
Those in my life know that I love to read, it is one of my favorite things to do. A book that I really love is #girlboss by Sophia Amoruso. It is a memoir/life tip book and it is fantastic to read not only how far she has come by working her ass off but also how a woman of power can be so supportive of other women and encourages them to be their best; it is refreshing and puts things into perspective in an interesting way. If you like to read and are looking for a new book, I cannot recommend this enough.
#5: Christmas Movies
I love Christmas in general and there is nothing better than snuggling up on the couch with a hot chocolate or tea and watching a Christmas movie in December. For the past couple years my best friend and I have had a festive movie night and this year we watched Elf and Love Actually which are two of my favorite holiday movies. Another tradition is to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol with my sister and it is one of my favorite things to do during Christmas. What is your favorite Christmas movie to watch?
Those are my favorites for December, I am curious what your favorite products were this month. Let me know!
I would also like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I hope that everyone has a great time with their loved ones and that Santa is good to you!
Pippin also wishes you a Merry Christmas!
I am sure that everyone has felt at some point in their lives that someone owed them an apology. I know for myself that I have been in situations where I have felt this way. Sometimes I have gotten those apologies, other times I have not and I am okay with that.
People spend way too much time waiting for apologies that they are never going to receive and being angry at the individuals that did them wrong. Life is so much easier when you can forgive and forget, even if the other person is unwilling to say they are sorry. It takes so much more energy to be angry at someone then to let it go and move on..in the long run you will be a much happier person.
On the other side of that sometimes you can say sorry and it's not enough and that needs to be okay too. People need to be more accepting that things do not always go the way they plan and roll with the punches that other people or life in general throw their way. Just some food for thought.
